Before you post your comment below, I invite you to consider the definition of the word, "Inspiration." Pronunciation: /ɪnspɪˈreɪʃ(ə)n/ Definition of inspiration in English:noun1[MASS NOUN] The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative:Helen had one of her flashes of inspirationthe Malvern Hills have provided inspiration for many artists MORE EXAMPLE SENTENCESSYNONYMS 1.1The quality of being inspired:a rare moment of inspiration in an otherwise dull display MORE EXAMPLE SENTENCES 1.2[COUNT NOUN] A person or thing that inspires:he is an inspiration to everyone MORE EXAMPLE SENTENCESSYNONYMS 1.3Divine influence, especially that supposed to have led to the writing of the Bible. EXAMPLE SENTENCES 2A sudden brilliant or timely idea:then I had an inspiration MORE EXAMPLE SENTENCESSYNONYMS 3[MASS NOUN] The drawing in of breath; inhalation:crackling sounds are heard in the stethoscope on inspiration It is that last definition that caught my attention. It is the one most closely aligned with the word's origin: OriginMiddle English enspire, from Old French inspirer, from Latin inspirare 'breathe or blow into' fromin- 'into' + spirare 'breathe'. The word was originally used of a divine or supernatural being, in the sense 'impart a truth or idea to someone'. The original form of water marbling, Suminigashi, involves the use of wind, -either the breath from the mouth or by waving a fan - across the surface of the water to create flowing designs. In the Mayu Silk Art booth at the Huntington Beach Pier, we often find that the ocean breeze will play with our carefully combed or drawn designs, altering them in ways that usually produce delight on the part of the artist. It is, I guess, the way that nature - or perhaps something more Divine - inspires our art to become something greater, more mysterious, more wonderful. So, now to the question.
